Found on Autotrader near me: a 2014 Fiesta ST in a familiar place . I’m not actually sure if it belongs to Tim or someone else who works at the school but it makes a better story to just call it Tim’s . Regardless it does look like it has been well cared for and maintained and all the paperwork is present with the car, but it has to have been sideways at the school at least once.
And then there’s the gravel. You drive a car more than 100 yards at the school and you are going to be finding gray dust every time you wash the car for the next 3 years. It’s basically impossible to get all of it out of every crevice on the bottom of the car.
Gib R2 to Squirrel...
Found on Autotrader with 45k miles for $14k:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
What say you Oppo? Buying a Fiesta ST owned by someone involved with the center for Rallying in New England (and home to Ford’s US Rallying involvement) , good idea or bad idea?

The camera seems to have real difficulty with the interior textures. The seats in particular are kinda trippy.

It sits on that line between the work place having all the resources needed to keep a Fiesta at 100% and that same work place being a rally playground. The maintenance to hoon ratio is probably a bit on the hoon side.

Yeah, it is a tough one. Also, $14K USD seems a tad high?

I don’t know the FiST market but there’s a 2016 FiST on Autotrader with 40k miles for $16 k so maybe it’s about right for a 20 14 in my area? It’s the only 2014 for sale near me so there’s nothing to directly compare it to.

Yeah it is tough. Not like shopping for a corolla. Not many comparos

Yeah considering it lacks the recaros and other premium features, 14K for a ragged base FiST with 45k on it is high.

Assuming it’s been abused quite a bit...you’re probably better off buying Jo n Voight’s LeBaron :P

The question is how much hooning has it actually seen. I’m sure it has seen a few romps through the compound but if you are choosing a car to hoon I don’t see why you would choose this over the RS guinea pig it s parked next to. And if it is Tim’s, nobody would object to him taking the R2 parked behind it out for a spin.

I paid $16k for a 2016 F ord CPO with 15k miles on it.
I would search around, a few thousand bucks for a newer lower model that hasn't been hooned is worth it.

It may have been driven hard occasionally, but it wasn’t used as a rally car- or worse, a rally training car, so it can’ t be too bad.

Worth it. I got one 3 weeks ago that was abused and neglected but solid and other than exploding a tire on a California Pothole.. the only issues i have are the window trim flapped and some yahoo put carbon fiber Tape on the front bumper Plus used the wheel tape for trim color. The interior is above average and the paint is uniform although for some odd reason it has pookah dents in the roof... still, fun car and for half the cost of new Plus 45k on the clock.. Hell Yeah! I had #471 GoMango Daytona Charger , an SRT 8 Charger and a host of 70's cars some motorcycles both low and high end design.. these little cars are Hilarious to drive and fairly Potent! I sit in traffic it stays cool, Ac is Cold the stereo is really good.. the best part ? You just cant go wrong with it if you use traction control. I can dump t he clutch burn some rubber while it pulls its little heart out chirp second hit a 20moh curve full throttle and feather the gas just blasting to high hell scaring the shit out of anyone who is trying to get some and when they lift thinking the little hot hatch is going to flip..that is when i hit 3rd and let the little beast have its head.. love it!! The car drives like spell check on aggressive and when you hit the rev limiter it cuts BUT there is a pause so you shift up and it rolls out. Mind you, the car is not fast, it is a Blast!! Well done Ford!!

I paid 11,,900 for a 2014 with 71k. Worth it. I looked at a 2014 with 50k for 14 and it was a mess.. when i bought it t he Average MP G was 14.. yea. 14. You wanna know howhow the car was treated hit the trip on the left gauge but honestly, the average soul cannot destroy a stocker romping it. They are Very stout

Not a bad deal! I got mine new for 22 Canadian

They can afford to fix what broke from the abuse, so chances are it’s in better shape then most abused ST’s.

Bad idea. I bought my 2017 model new, for $17k.
Unless it comes with a performance upgrade.
The wheels suck btw. Every bump you feel, and the rims crack so easily.
I replaced mine with steelies, however, I would recommend going with a slightly larger tire profile, to prevent breaking a $200+ rim when hitting a pothole.

The FiST is actually quite reliable, even when abused. The stock engine internals, as well as trans and clutch are capable of about 400whp, so even with upgraded turbos there isn’t much an issue... But all ‘14's and some ‘15's have a cooling recall. Also, the ride is quite rough too, ‘17+ models have slightly softer shocks/springs with fatter front sway bar and rear torsion beam that result in a better balanced daily ride.

I think it’s a pass unless you have a lot of details/documentation on maintenance . If you knew the story on brake pads, tires, clutch, etc. it might be fine. Someone running rally school isn't just doing a daily commute.
